Alexander Mining PLC27 January 2006 Alexander Mining plc ("the Company") Holding in Company The Company was notified by Artemis Investment Management Ltd on 26 January 2006that Artemis UK Smaller Companies is the beneficial owner of 4,975,000 ordinaryshares of 10p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares"), representingapproximately 3.7 per cent. of the Company's issued ordinary share capital. The Company was also notified by Artemis Investment Management Ltd on 27 January2006 that Artemis Institutional UK Growth is the beneficial owner of 3,500,000Ordinary Shares of 10p each in the Company, representing approximately 2.6 percent. of the Company's issued ordinary share capital and that the AbsoluteReturn Hedge Fund is the beneficial owner of 200,000 Ordinary Shares of 10p eachin the Company, representing approximately 0.15 per cent. of the Company'sissued ordinary share capital.
