Banco Comercial Portugues, S.A.15 October 2007 12 October 2007 Banco Comercial Portugues informs about JPMorgan Group qualified participation In accordance with article 17 nr. 1 of the Portuguese Securities Code (Codigodos Valores Mobiliarios), Banco Comercial Portugues, S.A. (BCP) hereby informsthat it has received a notice from JPMorgan Chase & Co., of 270 Park Avenue, NewYork, on behalf of itself and its subsidiaries (the "Group") pursuant to art. 16of the above mentioned Code, informing the Group's disclosable qualifyingholdings in the issued share capital as detailed. The total number of shares held by the Group on 9th September 2007 increased inthe ordinary course of its trading activities to: 183,655,257 representing5.086% of the BCP issued share capital. The increase in holding was due to a purchase of 44,180,249 shares by itssubsidiary J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. The Purchase was executed off-exchange on09 October 2007. As a result of the same purchase, the number of shares held by J.P. MorganSecurities Ltd. Increased to 99,424,089 representing 2.753% of the issued sharecapital. J.P.Morgan also informed that the entities which have the holdings are allsubsidiaries of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and that there is no other entity to whichthe holdings may be attributable.
