Asia Energy PLC11 February 2005 Asia Energy plc NEW HEAD OF BANGLADESH OPERATIONS Asia Energy Plc (the 'Company') announced today that it has appointed Mr GaryLye as head of its operations in Bangladesh where it is developing a major newcoal mining project. Mr Lye has been working with the Phulbari Coal Project as the General Manager ofOperations, based in Dhaka, for the past twelve months, and the Company said hispromotion was in line with moving the Project to the next phase of development. David Lenigas, Asia Energy's Joint Managing Director said, "Gary has thenecessary experience to take this exciting world class coal project through thebanking stage to mine start-up." Mr Lye has over 30 years' experience in the management of large-scale miningprojects having previously served as the Strategic Mine Development Manager atthe Kalgoorlie Super Pit Operations in Western Australia, for KalgoorlieConsolidated Gold Mines. His other major roles include Manager of the MiningResearch Laboratories for CRA in Perth, Western Australia, and 15 years at CRA'sBougainville Copper Mine in Papua New Guinea. Mr Lye takes over operational responsibility in Bangladesh from Mr LaithReynolds. The Company also announced that Mr Laith Reynolds has resigned as aDirector of the Company effective immediately.
