Green & Smart becomes Independent Power Producer as Kahang Biogas Plant Exports Power to Malaysia's National Grid
Further to the announcement of 7 September 2016, Green & Smart Holdings plc, a renewable energy company generating power from biogas captured through the treatment of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) in Malaysia, is pleased to announce that its 2.0 megawatt Kahang Biogas Plant located in the state of Johor, is now fully operational at headline capacity and renewable power generated from the plant is being exported to the national grid at expected levels, following the successful completion of testing.
The Group has been recording initial revenues from the sale of power to Malaysia's national utility company since testing began in late September 2016. GSH expects to receive the formal commercial operation certificate (COD) from the national utility in early calendar year 2017.
Mr. Saravanan Rasaratnam, Group Managing Director of Green & Smart, said: "This marks a significant milestone achievement for Green & Smart, as we become an independent power producer supplying electricity to the national grid. It is also a reflection of our commitment to support the Government of Malaysia in its renewable energy initiatives."
The Group will be announcing a trading update in respect of the year ended 30 September 2016 during January 2017.
