Arria NLG plc (AIM:NLG), a leader in the development and deployment of Natural Language Generation ("NLG") technologies, is pleased to announce that it has received notice from the United States Patent and Trademark Office that its application for a patent on its Method and Apparatus for Interactive Reports will be granted. Arria NLG's Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Robert Dale, led a team that created this important new feature of the Arria NLG Engine™.

This unique and powerful feature produces multilayered reports that allow Arria NLG's clients to interactively drill down into automatically generated narratives to illuminate key aspects of the relevant data, to call up automatically generated graphs and charts, and to hyperlink to reference works, video tutorials and other functionality features. This interactive function adds further value to the analytic narratives Arria NLG creates from big data, making it possible for a single automatically generated report to serve the needs of many audiences by allowing the reader to determine where more information or explanation is needed. This 'self-service' approach to information delivery results in productivity increases such that, experts are able to focus on more high value activities.

Arria NLG's patents and patent applications cover critical NLG processes that the Company currently applies in a growing list of industries, including meteorology, oil & gas production, agronomy, aviation, travel, consumer goods, financial services and insurance. Arria NLG's expanding patent portfolio strengthens its plan to become the global leader in automating the analysis and writing of reports on big data in any industrial or consumer setting.

Arria NLG is vigilant with its intellectual property protection, and we note that one patent infringement lawsuit not involving Arria NLG has recently commenced in the NLG space. Arria NLG is strongly positioned to defend its intellectual property and continues to expand its patent portfolio.
