Glencore Xstrata plc announces Inaugural Bond Issue
Glencore Xstrata plc ("Glencore Xstrata") announces the successful launch and pricing of a US$ denominated issue of notes (the "Notes") in a US$5 billion five-tranche transaction comprising 3 year, 5 year and 10 year fixed-rate Notes and 3 year and 5 year floating-rate Notes, issued through its subsidiary Glencore Funding LLC.
The transaction covers US$1 billion 1.700% guaranteed Notes due May 2016, US$1.5 billion 2.500% guaranteed Notes due January 2019, US$1.5 billion 4.125% guaranteed Notes due May 2023, US$500 million guaranteed floating-rate Notes due May 2016 and US$500 million guaranteed floating-rate notes due January 2019.
The Notes are guaranteed by Glencore Xstrata, Glencore International AG and Xstrata (Schweiz) AG. The Notes have been offered and sold pursuant to Rule 144A and Regulation S of the US Securities Act 1933, as amended. The Notes are rated Baa2 (Moody's) and BBB (Standard and Poor's).
Glencore Xstrata will use the net proceeds of the offering to repay part of the amounts outstanding under certain indebtedness and for general corporate purposes.
