("Nature Group" or the "Company")
Gibraltar Maritime Operations
Nature Group PLC (AIM: NGR), the leading maritime and offshore oil and gas waste management specialist is delighted to announce that it has applied for in principle approval to the Development & Planning Commission of the Government of Gibraltar for the re-building of its Waste Oil Reception Facility situated at the North Mole. This would allow for Gibraltar to once again have slop reception facilities as required by EU law.
This application is for storage only and encompasses the rebuilding of the storage tanks which were damaged during the unfortunate incident in May 2011, to be constructed to the highest standards, thus allowing Nature to resume waste oil storage activities on the site.
This application for planning permission has come about after months of constructive discussions with the Gibraltar Government and follows an extensive evaluation of the detailed engineered design for the rebuild of the Waste Oil Reception Facility storage tanks, which will be in compliance with the latest European and local legislation.
The rebuild of the tanks and facilities, if approved by the Development & Planning Commission, will take up to 7 months to construct, a further announcement will be given once the planning process is complete. The Development & Planning Commission will be considering all aspects of Nature's submission, which will no doubt follow the rigorous approvals procedure that the application will be subjected to. The rebuilt facility will be able to store waste oil products, reducing the current logistics challenge of only having floating storage.
Nigel Sandy, the Chairman of Nature Group Plc, comments "We are very pleased to start this process of application to the DPC so that, subject to the necessary consents being granted, will enable us to re-build our storage facility at North Mole. We are going to invest a significant amount in Gibraltar for a state-of-the art facility which will further improve the services to vessels calling at the Port of Gibraltar".
