Energetix Group plc05 February 2007 Immediate Release 5 February 2007 Energetix Group plc ("Energetix" or the "Company") GenlecTM Field Trial Energetix Group plc (AIM: EGX), the alternative energy specialist, todayannounces that its wholly owned subsidiary Energetix Genlec Limited, hascommenced an initial field trial of GenlecTM, its micro combined heat and power("mCHP") product, to assess the performance and energy efficiencies of itssystem under domestic household conditions. The trial, which started in January2007, will last 5 months and will provide data to confirm the preproductionunit's performance in a domestic environment. The GenlecTM system under test provides electricity, in addition to traditionalwater and central heating for the consumer. It has a similar foot print as otherhousehold boiler systems and has been installed in a typical wall hungconfiguration. Once this field trial has been concluded, Energetix will commencea wider trial to be conducted in multiple homes during the winter of 2007/08. It is anticipated that GenlecTM will save the average home around 1 tonne ofcarbon dioxide per year, in addition to £150-200 per year from a household'scombined gas and electricity bills. The GenlecTM system is based on existing mass produced components, which theDirectors believe to be critical in bringing high energy efficiency products tothe mass markets at a price point that will give faster payback, compared toother technologies currently under development. Commenting on the trial, Adrian Hutchings, Chief Executive of Energetix said: "We are delighted to have commenced this trial. The team has worked hard todevelop the preproduction unit, which has the capability of taking the lead inbringing domestic mCHP products to the mass market. "This achievement brings us one step closer to realising our strategy of beingthe first to market with a lightweight, wall-hung mCHP unit suitable for thehome." The Company is developing two products - namely Genlec - a micro CHP product forthe domestic boiler market and Pnu Power and UPS product for the small to mid range power market. Energetix has a strong board including individuals experienced in the formationand delivery of new technology businesses, with specific market knowledge and governmental influence. A team is in place with over 80 man years of experiencein alternative energy product development. About GenlecTM The GenlecTM based micro CHP appliance has similar dimensions to current boilersand is wall hung, which is important given that circa 90 per cent. of theWestern European boiler market comprises wall hung units. The appliance willalso have very similar service and maintenance requirements to normal boilers. The GenlecTM system uses the Organic Rankine Cycle principle, similar to thatused in refrigeration. An organic liquid is pressurised by a pump and thenevaporated using heat from the boiler. This pressurised vapour then passesthrough the scroll expander, driving the scroll as it decompresses turning agenerator that produces electricity. The low-pressure organic vapour then passesthrough the heat exchanger to produce useable hot water. The organic vapourcondenses to a liquid and then repeats the process.
