Further Highly Encouraging Results Returned from Kpo Iron Ore Project, Liberia
Sable Mining Africa Limited, the AIM listed exploration company, is pleased to announce further highly encouraging results from its early stage surface sampling and mapping programme on the 532 sq km Kpo Iron Ore Project in northern Liberia ('the Kpo Project'). The Kpo Project is located in the highly prospective West African Shield, where a number of world class iron ore projects are currently being developed.
Overview
·; Positive results from an additional 55 rock samples taken from across the central-northern and north-eastern section of the Kpo Project returning grades of up to 62.4% Fe and an average grade of 43.9% Fe
·; Early stage sampling confirms an apparent initial strike of 20km out of an overall target strike length in excess of 65km
·; Heli-support prospect drilling campaign anticipated to commence Q4 2012
·; External consultants MSA Group Services retained to review the original structural and geophysical interpretations to assist in the selection of specific drill targets in the target area
·; Prospects supported by established infrastructure - located 10km north-east of the existing Bong Mine rail link which terminates in the port of Monrovia
·; Close proximity to the proposed Bomi rail link that will link the Western Cluster of iron ore projects to the port of Monrovia
Sable Mining CEO Andrew Groves said, "These newly returned surface sample results from the two northern most targets again include high grade material of up to 62.4% Fe, further reinforcing the Kpo Project's potential to be a major new iron ore discovery. This also further confirms the apparent mineralised strike length of 20km out of a total target length in excess of 65km in an area which already hosts several multi-billion tonne iron ore assets. Plans are in place to commence with a heli-support prospect drilling programme across the northern portion of the licence area."
Further Information
Ground mapping and sampling commenced on Sable Mining's 60% owned Kpo Project in February 2012 and is onoing. The project is located in a highly prospective area between Sese Goa's Western Cluster (Bong Mine) and Wologisi and this campaign has continued to focus on the length of the north-central and north-eastern section of the licence, across the main target structure identified by a high resolution airborne geophysical survey flown during 2011.
The latest results returned from an additional 55 rock samples submitted have again been highly encouraging, with a maximum grade of 62.4% and an average grade of 43.9% Fe being returned. Contaminants remain low at 2.7% Al2O3 and
