Enova Systems, Inc.11 September 2006 Enova Sytems Confirms Recent Awards will Utilize Its Unique PROPRIETARY PostTransmission Parallel Hybrid Drive Systems TORRANCE, CA, September 11, 2006 - Enova Systems, (AMEX: ENA and AIM: ENV andENVS), an early stage production company in an emerging industry and a leadingdeveloper of proprietary electric, hybrid and fuel cell digital power managementsystems, is pleased to announce that its most recent awards will be completedwith their Post Transmission Parallel Hybrid Drive System. The Post TransmissionSystem is available with either a Charge Depleting or Charge Sustaining BatteryTechnology. The technologies are expected to improve fuel economy up to 100%. "Our unique Post Transmission System offers OEM (Original EquipmentManufacturers) customers a non-invasive solution to enter the Hybrid VehicleMarket in either the retrofit or new vehicle segment. Enova's Post TransmissionSystem is comprised of our proprietary AC induction electric motor, controllerand energy management system, and is designed and engineered as a totalproduction ready solution. Being the only supplier of this technology offers usand our customers a tremendous competitive advantage" stated Mike Staran,Enova's Vice President of Marketing. The Post Transmission System is one in which the Electric Drive System isintegrated behind the Transmission and is designed to be installed as a "dropin," fully integrated turnkey fashion into an OEM production line , orretrofitted in post vehicle production in a modular, "as-needed" basis. Enova'sPost Transmission System has proven, in other applications, to be a non-invasivesystem that has required little to no modifications to chassis, body, InstrumentPanel, etc. In addition, our system does not intrude on, or require anyalteration to the Engine Control/Communication system, thus avoiding anyemissions certification issues. Our system monitors, but does not impactanything that exists within the existing engine. The Charge Sustaining System utilizes relatively small batteries which aremaintained within specified range of State of Charge (SOC) over the entire drivecycle. Battery charge is maintained by the on-board equipment and is notnormally recharged from the grid except as needed for cell balancing. The ChargeDepleting System utilizes a larger battery based on advanced battery chemistrythat provides stored energy intended to be drawn down over the driving cycle, thus optimizing fuel economy, subsequent to an overnight charge. Depending on the route, fuel economy miles per gallon (mpg) improvement is from30% to 55% or better for a Post Transmission Charge Sustaining System, and70-100% or better for Post transmission Charge Depleting Systems. Emissionimprovements vary with the pollutant being measured and has shown up to a 90%improvement at times on Particulate Matter based on load and operating conditiondependent. The success of Enova's Post transmission Hybrid System has resulted in thefollowing recent projects and awards: • The development of the Nation's 1st functional and commercially available Hybrid School Bus in conjunction with IC Corporation• A School Bus Program consisting of "charge depleting" buses being delivered to 11 States, in conjunction with IC Corporation via the Advanced Energy Consortium• A contract to integrate service vans for a major NA Fleet Operator Further details regarding Enova's recent activity can be found on their website(http://www.enovasystems.com).
