Further Contract Wins in Southern Africa
Further to the announcement on 4 June 2013 of its involvement in the £18.2m Climate Resilient Infrastructure Development Facility for the Southern Africa Development Community, WYG plc, the global management and technical consultancy to the built and natural environment, is pleased to announce further successes in the region.
During the current financial year we have won the following new contracts with a total value to the Company of more than £10.0m:
·; In Cote d'Ivoire, through a strategic partnership with Safege, two contracts totalling £5.0m: one with the Ministry of Finance for a large scale finance management reform programme and the other with the Ministry of Transport to support the development of a national framework for managing and maintaining the road network.
·; In Nigeria, we are working in partnership with ten state governments on essential public finance reforms. In a recent review the client, the UK's Department for International Development, awarded the programme an A* rating which resulted in the award of a further project worth in excess of £1.0m.
·; In June, WYG was awarded a one year extension with an approximate value of €3.0m for the technical assistance we provide for a large migration support programme we undertake on behalf of the Africa, Caribbean, Pacific (ACP) Secretariat. The services we provide under the ACP Migration facility have taken us into Senegal, Nigeria, Angola, Lesotho, Kenya, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon and Botswana. In addition, the project, which is funded by the European Development Fund, assists six regional organisations covering all 79 ACP countries and 12 pilot countries.
·; In Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania, WYG consultants have recently presented a report at a ministerial retreat of the East African Community as a result of which we have secured a second phase of work on a project the ultimate aim of which is to widen and deepen economic, political, social and cultural integration to improve the quality of life of the people of East Africa.
·; Smaller contract awards in recent months have included a review of de-mining activities in South Sudan and Mozambique and a £1.0m project providing support to the African Forum of Utility Regulators to promote cohesion on energy policy throughout the region.
Paul Hamer, Chief Executive Officer of WYG, added:
"These new contract wins and extensions demonstrate the progress we are making in delivering on two key elements of our strategy: creating growth and becoming a global group. We are successfully growing our order book by using our existing market position, client relationships and partnering to address a number of global challenges in developed, emerging and third world economies."
