Sarantel Group PLC21 February 2007 21 February 2007 Sarantel Group plc Sarantel announces four GPS design wins in portable consumer products Sarantel (AIM: SLG), the leading manufacturer of revolutionary filteringantennas for mobile and wireless devices, today announces four handheld designwins for its GeoHelix antenna technology. Selected for its small size and superior handheld performance, the GeoHelixantenna has been designed into a mobile phone distributed by LG Telecom, aGPS-enabled camera from Ricoh, a portable navigation device from R.i.CO., and apersonal tracker from Flextrack. The quality of the GPS antenna will be a critical factor in the success of allfour devices, which are designed for portable use. Unlike conventional GPSantennas, which lose performance close to the human body, the GeoHelix antennais designed especially for hand-portable devices, reducing signal absorption bythe body by up to 90 per cent. Its omni-directional design also ensures a muchclearer view of all GPS satellites within range. The four products are: • Jaty's L2000 mobile phone, designed for the Korean telecoms provider LG Telecom and incorporating navigation, a golf rangefinder, MP3 playback and T-DMB digital television • The Ricoh 500SE GPS-ready Digital Camera - a new GPS application for Sarantel - designed for taking and "geotagging" photos • A Portable Navigation Device (PND) designed in partnership with the Italian manufacturer R.i.CO. and STMicroelectronics. • A second-generation Flextrack Lommy personal tracker incorporating GSM/ GPRS and voice capabilities. This is a follow-on order - Sarantel having equipped the previous Lommy design.
