DCD Announces Formation of DCD Publishing - £2m new contracts
DCD Media, the independent TV production and distribution group, has formed a wholly owned publishing subsidiary, DCD Publishing, in order to exploit book publishing, merchandising and licensing rights as well as certain UK DVD rights.
The Company is pleased to announce that £2 million of book and DVD contracts have been awarded to DCD Publishing, including for the TV series' Stephen Fry In America, Richard Hammond's Blast Lab, Alan Whicker's Journey Of A Lifetime, Last Chance To See, Escape From Baghdad and Stairway To Heaven, all produced by companies within the DCD Media group.
The Company is delighted to have appointed Adrian Sington, former Executive Chairman of Virgin Publishing, to head the new division.
DCD Media Chief Executive, Chris Hunt, said,
"DCD strives to be an almost entirely vertically integrated group that allows us to maximise the benefit of everything we make. Ancillary rights to programmes, such as publishing deals, are another area of upside for DCD and the reason behind DCD Publishing's creation. We intend to oversee the exploitation not only of rights associated with DCD Media Group companies but also those of third party producers and rights holders."
