Formalisation of Technology Partnership with GE

RNS Number : 5651T
Greenko Group plc
08 December 2011

EMBARGOED UNTIL 07.00 8th December 2011

Greenko Group plc

("Greenko", "the Company" or "the Group")

Formalisation of Technology Partnership with GE Energy

Greenko (Aim:GKO.L), the Indian clean energy developer, owner and operator, is pleased to announce that it has now formalised its agreement ("the Agreement") with GE Energy, for the supply and erection of further wind turbine generators ("WTGs") and closing documentation has now been completed. The Agreement replaces the previously announced Memorandum of Understanding on the framework agreement, entered into with GE in May 2011.

The Agreement marks a further step in the roll out of Greenko's wind strategy and the development of its pipeline of over 1GW of wind energy projects across India. The WTGs are GE's 1.6-82.5 generators, specifically developed for the class III wind conditions typical within India, which require a greater height and larger rotor diameter than traditional machines.

The core features of the Agreement are for the supply and commissioning of 200 WTGs on a phased basis over the next 3 years. This is in addition to the 65MW already under construction. Further WTGs can be supplied on similar terms by mutual consent.

Commenting on the Agreement, Anil Chalamalasetty, CEO and MD of Greenko, said: "The partnership with a global wind turbine technology leader is a significant step in not only achieving our medium term operational capacity plans but also creating attractive and long term sustainable assets for the Group.

John Flannery, President and CEO, GE India, said "Greenko is a leading player in clean energy, and we are delighted to be working with them to fulfil their energy requirements by providing reliable & efficient wind energy technology."

About Greenko

Greenko is a mainstream participant in the growing Indian energy industry and a market leading owner and operator of clean energy projects in India. The Group is building a de-risked portfolio of wind, hydro electric, natural gas and biomass assets within India and intends to increase the installed capacity it operates by winning concessions to develop new greenfield assets as well as making selective acquisitions which enhance shareholder value.

Greenko's portfolio is carefully planned and managed to ensure it offers investors diversification geographically and spreads risks across a number of projects which utilise varied environmental technologies. The Company's goal is to reach 1 GW of operational capacity by 2015. Current operational capacity is 182.6 MW, split between 104.3 MW of hydro, 41.5 MW of biomass and 36.8 MW of gas/liquid fuel. Greenko's portfolio, which includes projects in the development pipeline, currently stands at 1.63 GW.

With a core belief in sustainability both operationally and environmentally, Greenko endeavours to be a responsible business playing an important role in the community beyond its role in the power generation industry. The Company maintains a continuous involvement in localised projects and community programmes which centre on education, health and wellbeing, environmental stewardship and improving rural infrastructure.

Greenko Group plc was admitted to trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE: GKO) in November 2007.
