Flybrid at Future Powertrain 2017
At the Future Powertrain Conference organised last month by Imperial College's Energy Futures Lab, the Company's subsidiary, Flybrid, presented a range of energy storage systems using its high-speed flywheel technology. The flywheel-based systems can address a wide range of applications using hydraulic, mechanical and electrically connected options. With energy storage from 380kJ to more than 3,000kJ and power from 210kW to more than 1000kW, the systems can address a range of applications:
· Off-highway machines including excavators, wheel loaders, fork lift trucks, port handing and mining equipment;
· On-highway vehicles including bus and trucks; and
· Power generation for applications such as electric drilling.
The Company is already engaged with a range of global off-highway OEMs interested in trialling the Group's production-ready, hydraulically-connected, energy recovery products for use in excavators, wheel loaders and larger mining vehicles.
The power generation market is an ideal application for the Group's high-speed flywheel technology enabling significant fuel and other cost savings from load levelling, engine downsizing and downspeeding. Since the conference, Flybrid has experienced further significant interest from several global power generation OEMs to evaluate the Group's technology.
