FirstGroup plc (LSE: FGP) and Laidlaw International, Inc. (NYSE:LI) jointly announced today that they have received a request foradditional information from the Antitrust Division of the U.S.Department of Justice regarding the proposed merger between the twocompanies, focused on student transportation. The information requestwas issued under notification requirements of the Hart-Scott-RodinoAntitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended. £ The effect of the second request is to extend the waiting periodimposed by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act until 30 days after FirstGroupand Laidlaw have substantially complied with the second request,unless the period is extended voluntarily by the parties or terminatedsooner by the DOJ.
