Fire at Armadillo Cheadle

The Group has experienced a fire in the early hours of Saturday morning (26 February) at its Armadillo Cheadle store, which has resulted in a total loss to the store. The cause of the fire is being investigated by Greater Manchester Fire Brigade and the Police and is at this stage unknown.

Our representatives at the scene worked closely with the Fire Brigade and the Police on Saturday, and we are very thankful for the efforts of all the emergency services involved.

There were no staff members or customers on site when the fire started and there have been no injuries.

We have already made contact with all of our 650 customers and will be keeping them up to date and assisting them with their insurance claims. This is a difficult time for all our affected customers and some of the possessions stored with us can never be replaced, and we are very saddened that this incident occurred.

The store is a leasehold with five years remaining on the lease, and the balance sheet value of this store at 30 September 2021 was £3.3 million. Buildings all risk insurance is in place for the full reinstatement value with the landlord. We also have insurance cover in place for both our fit out and four years loss of income.
