Field Trial Update

5th Jul 2007 07:00

Energetix Group plc05 July 2007 For immediate release 5 July 2007 Energetix Group plc ("Energetix" or the "Company"), Field trial update Further to the announcement on 5 February 2007, Energetix Group plc (AIM: EGX)the alternative energy specialist, today announces that its wholly ownedsubsidiary Energetix Genlec Limited ("EGL"), has successfully completed itsinitial field trial of Genlec(TM), its micro combined heat and power ("mCHP")product. The field trial was undertaken to assess the performance and energy efficienciesof the Genlec(TM) system under domestic household conditions and this trial hasidentified that a Genlec(TM) enabled appliance can be operated at an overallenergy efficiency of 90 to 95 per cent. compared with an initial target of 90per cent. This is an improvement on the latest condensing boiler technology inthe market which operates at an overall efficiency of approximately 90 per cent.and a significant improvement over traditional boilers that operate atapproximately 70 per cent efficiency. In addition, test data from this trial and ongoing development work have enabledthe design of a next generation Genlec(TM) unit further reducing both size andweight of the system by up to 20% and 45% respectively. This performance is a good indication that Genlec(TM) enabled appliances shoulddeliver energy savings of £150 - £200 per year to homeowners and reduce theaverage home's carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1 tonne per yearcompared to a condensing boiler. The next step for EGL will be to manufacturefurther units for a wider test programme to confirm these savings and toconclude the necessary endurance testing to prepare the products for marketlaunch. Commenting on the progress of EGL, Adrian Hutchings, Chief Executive Officer ofEnergetix Group said: "We are delighted that this initial field trial performed well ahead of theCompany's expectations and it is credit to the Genlec team that they have beenable to further reduce the size and weight of what was already a compact andlightweight unit Genlec(TM) module. I am looking forward to seeing the nextgeneration unit operating in test homes this winter, and very pleased that weare still on target to launch Genlec(TM) enabled micro CHP appliances H2 2008."
