Fatality at Karvina Mine
New World Resources Plc ('NWR' or the 'Company') regrets to announce a fatality at the Karvina Mine of OKD, a.s. ('OKD'), its Czech subsidiary.
A 32 year old employee was fatally injured last night by falling rock approximately 980 metres underground. The accident happened during the Monday to Tuesday night shift, and was not caused by a tremor or a gas explosion.
NWR expresses its deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased miner.
The incident had no immediate impact on production.
An investigative committee comprising members of the Ostrava Mining Authority, Karvina Mine management, OKD management and the OKD trade union in cooperation with police of the Czech Republic is now conducting a full enquiry into the event.
