"Extra Care" Planning Consent
Wren Homes Group Plc, the AIM listed provider of retirement living, through a range of Extra Care and other services for the independent elderly, announces today that detailed planning permission for another of its 'Extra Care' housing schemes has been granted for the development of 50, one and two bedroom units in Wallington, Surrey.
This brings the total number of "ExtraCare" and retirement units (with planning consent) that Wren is interested in to 177 units, including the Wallington, Surrey site. Under Wren's option agreement, once planning permission has been received, Wren is free to exercise its right to buy outright the Wallington site. The Group also has a further 240 units at various stages in the planning system at sites in Hertfordshire and Surrey.
Wren's continued move into this second generation of retirement living, "Extra Care", is a step closer to the provision of a wider range of services to support the independent elderly, so that they may continue to live comfortably and secure "at home; not in a home". The Group continues to receive customer enquiries as far as both its retirement and "ExtraCare" schemes are concerned and its first site in Warlingham is now almost fully sold.
Commenting, Paul Treadaway, CEO of Wren Homes said:
"I am delighted that Wren has been granted planning consent for this additional 'Extra Care' scheme in Wallington and it maintains our 100 per cent success rate in securing planning consent for our 'ExtraCare' retirement model.
Our continued growth into this next generation of housing for the 'active' elderly is exciting as it is into a sector that is significantly underdeveloped, yet is addressing an issue pertinent to a great many families across the country - how to safely, securely and comfortably house retired and elderly relatives. It is an issue that is not going to diminish and I look forward to Wren's successful contribution to its solution over the coming years".
