Chang Yi-shan, a former member of the central committee of the opposition Taiwan People's Party, said the motive behind Mr Terry Gou's presidential election aspiration is likely that Hon Hai wants to replace TSMC to ultimately lure Taiwan semiconductor talent "westward to China". Hon Hai hopes that with Dr Chiang Shang-yi onboard the attraction for talent can be exerted - "It is to absorb China's Unigroup, absorb investment in China's semiconductor industry."

Hon Hai Technology Group ("the Company") clearly calls out as false and irresponsible the comments made by Mr. Chang Yi-shan on April 10 as a guest on Sanlih E-Television program "94 customer complaints" regarding the Company's recruitment of Dr Chiang Shang-yi as chief strategy officer; its investment decision over Tsinghua Unigroup; its alleged interest in wanting to send Taiwan's semiconductor talent to China; and alleged motives of Hon Hai Founder Mr Terry Gou to contend for election. Hon Hai urges the public to refrain from spreading rumors. In response to any false statements, the Company will not rule out taking legal actions to safeguard the Group's commercial reputation.
