EXERCISE OF WARRANTS

Afren plc (the 'Company') announces that it has issued and allotted, conditional on admission, 100,000 Ordinary Shares of 1p each, pursuant to an exercise of warrants. The shares will rank pari passu with the existing Ordinary Shares of 1p each in the Company. Application for admission has been made for the shares, which is expected to be effective on 6 August 2008. 

Following the share issue, the Company's outstanding issued share capital will be 442,474,226 Ordinary Shares.
