Micro Focus(R) (LSE:MCRO.L), a leading provider of enterpriseapplication modernization software, today announces that Essilor ofAmerica (EOA), the largest manufacturer of optical lenses in the U.S.and subsidiary of Paris-based Essilor International, has reaped thebenefits of recently migrating it's core accounts receivableapplication to the Microsoft Windows platform. In doing so, EOA haseliminated its unsupported Wang VS 7130 mainframe, improvedperformance and response times and lowered costs. £ For over a decade EOA processed sales reports and monthly accountstatements from 15 labs on one heavily customized Accounts Receivablepackage, hosted on the WANG VS 7130 machine. Running these monthlyreports was extremely time-consuming; the processing time for one labalone was over 4 hours. In an industry where speed matters, andquickly producing accurate sales reports is imperative, EOA realizedthat reports would be produced more quickly and efficiently if itsAccounts Receivable System was migrated to a Microsoft Windows 2003server. Unlike the Wang VS, Windows would allow the upload anddownload of data to be automated, dramatically reducing the processingtime of each lab's critical sales information. £ Micro Focus' proven approach to migration and modernization,allowed EOA to move 70 percent of the code without change, deliveringreuse of all the core business logic, as well as a fast and low-costtransformation of the application infrastructure. It now takes onlyminutes to understand and solve problems and EOA no longer has to waithours to transfer data from the network to the Wang.
