Pinewood Shepperton plc enters into sales and marketing role for new studios in Toronto
Pinewood Shepperton plc, the leading European provider of studio and related services to the worldwide screen industries, today announces it has entered into a sales and marketing agreement with the new investors of Toronto's Filmport Studios ("the Studios"). The agreement, proposed by the investors, takes immediate effect and will run for an initial five year period with an option to extend.
Under the terms of the agreement, the newly built Studios will be renamed Pinewood Toronto Studios. Day-to-day operations of Pinewood Toronto Studios will be led by its newly appointed Managing Director, Edith Myers reporting to the Board.
Pinewood Shepperton plc will earn fees based on the revenue performance of Pinewood Toronto Studios.
Commenting on the announcement Ivan Dunleavy, Chief Executive said "This new agreement is an exciting development in our strategy to broaden the Pinewood brand and leverage our reputation in film and television in a new market for the group."
Toronto is the third largest film and television production centre in North America. Situated on an 11 acre brownfield site east of downtown Toronto, Pinewood Toronto Studios comprises seven newly built sound stages including a 46,000 square-foot MegaStage, the largest of its kind in North America. Pinewood Toronto Studios' new investors are Return on Innovation Fund Inc., Castlepoint Realty Partners, Comweb Corporation and the City of Toronto Economic Development Corporation.
