MEGGITT WINS DUAL EMBRAER LEGACY 450/500 CONTRACTS

Meggitt PLC ('Meggitt'), the international aerospace, defence and performance sensors group, today announces that Meggitt Fluid Controls and Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems ("MABS") have won multi-million dollar contracts for Embraer's new Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 executive jet programs.

Meggitt Fluid Controls will develop and produce the pneumatic bleed air system, while MABS will provide the wheel, carbon brake, and brake control systems

The mid-size Embraer Legacy 500, can carry up to 12 passengers with a 3,000 nautical mile range. The mid-light Embraer Legacy 450, which seats nine, has a 2,300 nautical mile range. To date, Embraer has accepted letters of intent for more than one hundred Legacy 500s and Legacy 450s. The Legacy 500 will enter service in the second half of 2012 and the Legacy 450 in the second half of 2013.

The pneumatic bleed air systems, consisting of two regulating and seven shut-off valves and a pneumatic system controller, will manage the bleed air from the engines' high and low pressure outputs for temperature and pressure control and maintain anti-ice systems and the aircraft's cargo, cabin and cockpit environments. The controller will manage the system's mechanical fluid control devices, ensuring system safety and integrity. The systems will be developed and manufactured in Meggitt Fluid Controls' facilities in North Hollywood and CoronaCalifornia

The contract for the 14" main wheel, two-pair carbon brake, six-inch nose wheel and brake-by-wire brake control system is a significant win for MABS, reinforcing its position as an important supplier to Embraer. MABS is already a partner on the Embraer Phenom 100 and 300 aircraft and, with Liebherr-Aerospace, on the Embraer 170/175 and 190/195 regional jets and the Lineage 1000 ultra-large business jet.

Terry Twigger, Chief Executive of Meggitt commented:

"We are extremely proud that Embraer has selected Meggitt for their Legacy family productsThese two contract wins confirm the strength of our complementary capabilities and the wealth of experience held within the specialist businesses of the Meggitt group."
