African Platinum (Afplats) was known as Southern African Resources untilyesterday, when shareholders approved its new name to give the company a moreclearly descriptive identity ahead of its planned secondary listing on theAmerican Stock Exchange. Afplats said the departure of Edmonds and Groves was in line with their statedcommitment to stepping down once a professional management team and board hadbeen put in place. "Phil and Andrew made a very significant contribution to this company and we'llmiss their entrepreneurial expertise, but we fully understand their desire todevote more time to their new projects now that Afplats has been developed wellbeyond its start-up stage," chief executive Roy Pitchford said. Afplats is due to publish the results of the prefeasibility study on itsflagship Leeuwkop project on the South African Bushveld complex shortly.
