Edinburgh project update
CityFibre (AIM: CFHL), a leading designer, builder, owner, and operator of fibre optic infrastructure in UK towns and cities, is pleased to announce developments in its Edinburgh CORE project, announced in March.
In June 2015 CityFibre launched its 'Gig-Up Edinburgh' campaign, enabling local businesses and institutions to register interest in ultra-fast internet connectivity. In the first month since launch, over 200 local businesses have registered their interest. This is over and above the connections committed under CityFibre's anchor tenant agreement with local service provider, Commsworld.
Businesses can continue to register their interest in CityFibre's ultra-fast internet connectivity on the www.edinburghcore.com website. Registration is not an obligation to sign up to services, but enables CityFibre to plan its network construction to accommodate this demand.
In addition, Commsworld has also signed contracts with a number of new customers, including The Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Apex Hotels and The Law Society of Scotland, all of whom will benefit from the enhanced connectivity which CityFibre's Edinburgh CORE network will bring to the city's business community.
Greg Mesch, Chief Executive of CityFibre, commented:
"We are delighted that the Edinburgh CORE is off to such a strong start and we are very encouraged by the response from businesses in our first month of pre-registration. In addition, it's great to see our partner, Commsworld, already securing new customers on the promise of the better value and quality of connectivity which our network will deliver."
Andy Arkle, Commercial Director of Commsworld, added:
"We have been delighted by the strong response of Edinburgh's business community to the Gigabit City project and pre-registration campaign. Our customers are excited by the opportunity and we anticipate the majority of them migrating to the Edinburgh CORE network over time. We have also seen significant interest from other businesses in the city, including some well-known names, for the new generation of gigabit speed services that will soon be available from Commsworld."

About CityFibre:
CityFibre enables gigabit connectivity through designing, building, owning, and operating fibre optic network infrastructure. It is the largest independent provider of fibre infrastructure to mid-sized cities and major towns across the UK, providing gigabit-capable infrastructure for enterprise and public sector organisations, service providers, mobile network operators and businesses.
The Group owns and operates 543 route kilometres of local access networks serving 885 customer locations in 60 towns and cities in the UK, including York, Coventry, Peterborough, Huddersfield, Hull, Sheffield, Newcastle, Dundee, Bath, Derby and Doncaster.
To date the Company has launched five Gigabit City projects in York, Peterborough, Coventry, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh, where city-wide pure fibre networks known as 'COREs' bring world-class Internet connectivity and the benefits of gigabit speeds to every aspect of the city's community. The CityFibre COREs are deployed using the Company's Well Planned City (WPC) design philosophy, in which its city-wide core fibre infrastructure is designed with thousand-strand fibre cables in dual ducts optimally routed to serve the present and future demand of the public sector, mobile base stations, business park estates, and ultimately designed to serve as feeder and distribution network for Fibre-to-the- Home deployments.
CityFibre is also a proud member of a joint venture with TalkTalk and Sky. Established in early 2014, the collaboration aims to prove the viability of gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) networks and services for homes and businesses. Work is currently underway to connect tens of thousands of homes and businesses in York to a future-proof FTTP modern digital infrastructure.
CityFibre is based in London, United Kingdom, and its shares trade on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange (AIM: CFHL).
