ECV welcomes Mercedes-Benz discount for Vito taxi

Eco City, a developer and supplier of eco-friendly commercial vehicles and the London licensed Mercedes Vito taxi, welcomes today's announcement by Mercedes-Benz that they will provide a significant discount on the purchase price of the new Euro V compliant Vito taxis in April 2012.

Following discussions between Transport for London (TfL) and Mercedes-Benz, the new scheme will offer a £1,500 discount off the purchase price of a new low-emission Vito Euro 5 taxi in exchange for the cab owner agreeing to carry some Mercedes-Benz advertising for 18 months.

The move is part of initiatives to deliver cleaner air for London and support cab drivers affected by the new age limit on London licensed taxis, introduced earlier this year.

Peter DaCosta, Chief Executive of ECV, commented: "We have been actively involved with our long term partner Mercedes-Benz, Tfl and the Mayor of London to help support London cabbies with the upgrade of their old black cabs to the new, greener Vito taxi. We welcome this initiative which will help to deliver cleaner air for the capital and also help cabbies make the transition to the most fuel efficient and low emission licensed London taxi available today."
