Cyan Holdings Plc31 August 2006 Press Release 31 August 2006 Cyan Holdings Plc ("Cyan" or "the Company") Cyan becomes a multi-product company Cyan Holdings Plc (AIM: CYAN.L), the fabless semiconductor company specialisingin the development of low power consumption, configurable microcontroller chips, announces today that is has expanded its product range with the release toproduction of eCOG1X. eCOG1X transforms Cyan from a single product company to amulti-product company with 33 products and enable Cyan to capture further designwins in a number of new markets. The eCOG1X triples the computing performance ofthe eCOG1k which continues in production for ultra low power applications. Cyan has already secured 14 design wins for the eCOG1X including ePOS andTelematics applications with additional opportunities in security, accesscontrol, pay phones, consumer and networking. These initial design wins arelikely to total about 250,000 units per annum when all are in full production atprojected annual run rates. In addition there are a further 18 opportunities ofover 50,000 units per annum that could result in 3.5 million units per annum atfull projected annual run rates. The unit selling price for eCOG1X productsranges from $4 to $10. Paul Johnson, CEO of Cyan, commented: "We are delighted to go into productionwith eCOG1X and expect revenues in 2007. We can now offer our customers a rangeof microcontrollers, all providing lower power consumption, with the eCOG1Xtripling the computing performance of the eCOG1k. This will enable the Companyto respond to future market demands and takes the Company to the next stage ofits corporate development." - ends - For further information:Cyan Holdings plcPaul Johnson, Chief Executive Officer Tel: +44 (0) 1954 234 400 www.cyantechnology.com ------------------------Collins Stewart LimitedSimon Atkinson, Corporate Finance Tel: +44 (0) 20 7523 8350 www.collins-stewart.com -------------------------- Media enquiries:Abchurch CommunicationsHeather Salmond / Franziska Bohnke Tel: +44 (0) 20 7398 [email protected] www.abchurch-group.com-------------------------------------- ------------------------- Notes to Editors Cyan Holdings plc is a fabless semiconductor company which specialises in thedesign, sale and support of a range of 16-bit and 32-bit general-purpose lowpower, high performance microcontroller chips ("MCUs"). These chips are integralcomponents used in nearly all electronic products, ranging from mobile phonesand washing machines to toys, televisions and motorcars. Consumer entertainmentmarkets require more powerful processors and are usually based on 32-bit chipswhich Cyan is developing to serve this market segment. Cyan operates in a $14billion worldwide market for microcontrollers, which is poised to grow to $20billion by 2010. Cyan has identified Europe and South East Asia as the largestmarkets for its products, and as such aims to have 1% of the microcontrollermarket within 5 years. Originally Cyan was a spin out from Cambridge Consultants Limited to use its16-bit core, the same core used in CSR's Bluetooth chips. Since Cyan was foundedin 2002, it has achieved 100 design wins for its initial eCOG1(R)k product andis expanding the range of the patent-protected eCOG1(R) family and introducing anew range of 32 bit microcontrollers. Cyan has introduced design integration support software, CyanIDE(R), to supportthe Company's entire range of current and future microcontrollers. The softwaremakes chip integration into customers' products vastly more simple, quick, reliable and hence less expensive while dramatically reducing development time.Cyan created CyanIDE(R) to avoid relying on standard tools from third partysuppliers. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, UK and opened a sales and technicalsupport office in Hong Kong in May 2005 which services the Chinese market. Cyanemploys 32 people. CyanIDE and eCOG are registered trade marks of Cyan Holdings plc. This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock ExchangeRelated Shares:
