Low & Bonar PLC30 November 2005 Low & Bonar PLC - European Commission Decision Low & Bonar PLC (the "Company") announced on 10 May 2004 that the Group was oneof a number of groups which received a statement of objections from the EuropeanCommission investigating allegations of a cartel relating to industrial bags, amarket which the Group exited in 1997 following the sale of its Belgianpackaging business to BPI. Following the conclusion of its investigation the European Commission todaynotified the Company of the European Commission's decision that the Company andBonar Technical Fabrics N.V. infringed Article 81 of the European CommissionTreaty. The European Commission has imposed a fine of €12.24 million on theGroup out of fines totalling €290 million. The Company and Bonar TechnicalFabrics consider the amount of the fine to be disproportionate and will assessthe possibility of an appeal following receipt of details of the decision.
