New Moon smashes box office records
Entertainment One Ltd. ("E1"), the leading international independent entertainment content owner and distributor, is pleased to announce the record breaking opening weekend of its UK and Canadian release The Twilight Saga: New Moon ("New Moon"), the widely anticipated sequel to the 2008 box office hit Twilight.
On its release by E1 on Friday 20th November 2009 New Moon generated one of the largest opening nights in Canadian and second largest opening night in British box office history. In addition, the film has achieved the all time first three day box office record in the UK for any US produced film and is the largest ever weekend performance of an independently distributed UK release. In Canada the film has enjoyed the second largest weekend performance of any title in history.
New Moon has already generated an estimated weekend box office of more than £11m in the UK and $11m in Canada and is substantially outperforming the first Twilight film. The third installment in the Twilight series, Eclipse, is anticipated on 30 June, 2010
