Sound Oil PLC09 May 2007 May 9th 2007 SOUND OIL PLC DRILLING OPERATIONS COMMENCE ON PASUNDAN PROSPECT Sound Oil Plc, the upstream oil and gas company, is pleased to announce thatdrilling operations have commenced on the Pasundan prospect on the CitarumProduction Sharing Contract, West Java, Indonesia at 6.30am local time on the9th May 2007. Sound Oil plc is a participant in this exploration well throughits wholly owned subsidiary Mitra Energia Citarum Limited, with a 20% interest. The well is located approximately 50 km southeast of Jakarta immediately to thesouth of a broad belt of hydrocarbon discoveries that run from west to eastacross the northern part of West Java. Pasundan - 1 is being drilled using the Great Wall Rig 93 rig to a prognosedtotal depth of 10,322 ft and is targeting a hydrocarbon prospect at threepotential reservoir levels. The operation is expected to take a minimum of 48days.
