Premier Oil PLC31 January 2006 PREMIER OIL PLC ("Premier" or "the Company") Drilling update Indonesia Premier is pleased to announce a gas discovery in Indonesia with its operatedMacan Tutul-1 exploration well, in the Natuna Sea Block A licence. The well islocated approximately 12 km southeast of the Premier operated Anoa field. Inline with our pre-drill targets, the gas is in the Upper and Middle Arangsandstones. Casing is being set before drilling ahead to deeper reservoirobjectives, which should be reached by the end of the week. A further updatewill be provided in due course. Premier is the operator of West Natuna Block Awith a 28.67% interest, and the other partners in the block are Kufpec (33.33%),Amerada Hess (23%) and Petronas (15%). Mauritania The Dore-1 exploration well has been drilled to a total depth of 2,266 meters.Wireline logging has been completed and indicates the well has not encounteredany significant hydrocarbons. The well is now being plugged and abandoned. The 'Stena Tay' rig will now be released. The 'Atwood Hunter' is scheduled tocommence the 2006 Mauritanian exploration programme in early second quarter2006. Simon Lockett, Premier's Chief Executive, commented: "Premier is pleased with the successful result of its first operated wellspudded in 2006. The gas discovered by Macan Tutul is close to existinginfrastructure and adds to Premier's continually growing gas reserves in WestNatuna Block A.
