MANAGEMENT SUCCESSION

Shaftesbury PLC, a Real Estate Investment Trust investing in London's West End has today announced that Jonathan Lane, now 65, has advised the Board that he intends to retire from his role as Chief Executive during 2011. Jonathan has been Chief Executive since Shaftesbury's formation in 1986. He has made an enormous contribution to the Group, which is widely regarded as one of the most successful and innovative companies in the sector. We are delighted that following the appointment of his successor, he will be staying with the Group as Deputy Chairman. A process to appoint a new Chief Executive, considering both internal and external candidates, has now begun.
