ANNOUNCEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SMITH & NEPHEW PLC

STERLING AMOUNT OF DIVIDEND

As announced on 10 February 2011, a final dividend of 2010 of 9.82 US cents per ordinary share will be paid on 19 May 2011 to shareholders whose names appeared on the Register at the close of business on 3 May 2011. Those shareholders whose address on the Register is in the UK, and those who have validly elected to receive sterling dividends, will receive a dividend of 5.975 pence per share.
