Morrison(Wm.)Supermarkets PLC31 August 2005 Morrison (Wm.)Supermarkets PLC31 August 2005 Sale of petrol filling sites and convenience stores to Tesco Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc announces that its subsidiary Safeway StoresLimited ("Safeway") has agreed to sell 30 petrol filling stations andconvenience stores to Tesco Stores Limited ("Tesco"). The 30 petrol filling stations and convenience stores were acquired by Safewayon dissolution of the BP and Safeway Partnership announced in April 2005 and arelisted below. The sale of 12 of the sites and stores is subject to a right ofpre-emption in favour of BP Oil UK Limited required under the provisions of theagreement providing for the partnership dissolution. The value of the gross assets attributable to the 30 sites and conveniencestores at 30 January 2005 was approximately £55.3 million. The transaction is conditional on the approval of the Office of Fair Trading.Completion is expected to occur shortly after such approval is obtained. Allstaff will transfer to the new owner on completion.
