2nd July 2007 Daily Mail and General Trust plc (`DMGT') Disposal of Northcliffe Retail Limited

Northcliffe Media, the local media division of DMGT, announces that it has sold Northcliffe Retail to Rippleglen, the second largest confectionary, tobacco and news chain in the UK, for a cash consideration of ‚£8.2 million.

Northcliffe Retail has sixty one outlets situated throughout Leicestershire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Lincolnshire. The business made an operating profit of ‚£1 million on revenue of ‚£35 million in the year ended 1st October 2006.

The sale of Northcliffe Retail is part of DMGT's strategy of focusing Northcliffe on its local media operations.
