RPC ANNOUNCES SALE OF BRAMLAGE-VERSCHLÜSSE
RPC Group Plc, Europe's leading supplier of rigid plastic packaging, announces that its Bramlage Verschlüsse wines and spirits closures manufacturing operation in Lohne, Germany, has been bought by Rauh GmbH & Co KG. The value of the gross assets sold was €2.9m. The proceeds will be used to fund the ongoing growth strategy of the RPC Group.
RPC Bramlage Verschlüsse's extensive product range includes high quality natural and synthetic corks as well as aluminium and special closures. The company achieved sales of €7 million in the financial year 2010/2011 with an EBITDA of €0.3 million. Rauh makes bottle caps and closures for customers including breweries, wine bottlers and soft drinks manufacturers. The two companies have been working as partners since 2006, with Rauh supplying roll-on aluminium closures to RPC Bramlage Verschlüsse.
Ron Marsh, RPC Group's Chief Executive said that the sale provided the best opportunity for the continued growth of the Bramlage Verschlüsse business.
"Colleagues at RPC Bramlage Verschlüsse have been working very closely with their counterparts at Rauh for the last five years," he explained.
"As wines and spirits are not a core sector for the RPC Group, this is a natural progression of the existing partnership, creating one of the most important players in the German market and allowing the company to integrate further into the industry."
RPC Bramlage Verschlüsse's 17 staff will continue to work for Rauh on the same site.
