Display of Drill Core

7th Mar 2006 10:00

Lonmin PLC07 March 2006 Lonmin Plc Announces Display of Drill Core from its Sudbury PGM Joint Venture Lonmin Plc announces that it will be displaying, with Inco Limited, diamonddrill core on March 7 and 8 at the Core Shack at the Prospectors & DevelopersAssociation of Canada (PDAC) Conference to be held in Toronto, Canada, fromtheir previously announced Sudbury PGM joint venture. Lonmin entered into thejoint venture with Inco in January 2005 to explore for low sulphide high PGE-Aumineralisation on six Inco properties: Levack North, Trillabelle, Denison,McKim, Capre and Wisner. The joint venture has targeted a type of PGE-Au mineralisation recentlyidentified in Sudbury Ontario, where high grades of PGE's are associated withlow levels of copper-nickel sulphides (low sulphide high PGE-Au mineralization). This type of mineralisation has become an increasingly higher profileexploration target in the Sudbury Basin and is being explored, evaluated and insome instances mined by a number of companies. The following diamond drill core and analytical results resulting from thisjoint venture will be shown: Property Hole From To Core % Ni % Cu Pt g/t Pd g/t Au g/t Pt-Pd-Au Number m m length g/t (m) Denison LM0010-0 373.8 380.0 6.2 0.23 0.08 2.45 7.09 8.14 17.68 LM0010-0 464.6 472.7 8.1 0.08 0.02 1.09 3.97 3.79 8.85 Denison LM0014-0 514.0 529.3 15.3 0.11 0.11 1.10 2.04 0.86 4.00 LM0014-0 529.3 544.5 15.2 0.96 1.17 0.78 1.20 0.31 2.29 Wisner LM0068-0 21.2 41.3 20.1 0.02 0.09 0.89 0.75 0.27 1.91 Including 39.0 41.3 2.3 0.05 0.41 3.29 3.09 0.96 7.34 Wisner LM0065-0 4.1 4.8 0.7 0.31 1.06 1.28 1.98 0.88 4.14 LM0065-0 10.4 18.8 8.4 0.04 0.16 1.15 1.13 0.35 2.63 Levack North 85536 -P 1023.7 1079.7 56.0 0.09 1.29 2.69 5.54 1.08 9.31 Details of the quality control procedures for these drill results are asfollows: Half core samples are delivered to the ALS Chemex sample preparationfacility in Sudbury, Ontario, where the entire sample is weighed and thencrushed to 70% -10 mesh. ALS Chemex then homogenizes the crushed reject bypassing it once through a Jones riffle and then recombines the two halves fromwhich a 200-250 gram portion is split using the same Jones riffle. The split isring pulverised to 85% -200 mesh from which a 100 gram split is sent to theiranalytical facilities in Vancouver, British Columbia. All of the samples with sulphide contents greater than 10% are analysed by theirME-ICP81 (formerly A6 procedure) for Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, S, As, Pb and Zn (0.2 gramsof sample are fused with 2.6 grams of Na2O2 in zirconium crucibles), for Au, Ptand Pd by fire assay/ICP (PGM-ICP23) and for low-level As, Pb and Ag by nitricaqua regia digestion/AAS (AA45). All three procedures are ISO 9002 certified. Results, which exceed the upper limit of the procedures, are redone by anappropriate assay method for the element and level of concentration. Samples with sulphide contents of less than 10% are submitted for the ME-ICP61+PGM-ICP23 procedure. This package is a total acid digestion that assays for Au,Pt, Pd, Ag, Al, As, Ba, Be, Bi, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni,P, Pb, S, Sb, Sr, Ti, V, W and Zn. A prepared sample (0.250 gram) is digestedwith perchloric, nitric and hydrofluoric acids. The sample is then furtherdigested in a small amount of hydrochloric acid. This solution is analyzed byinductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and the results arecorrected for spectral inter element interferences.
