Home Retail Group Plc13 March 2007 HOME RETAIL GROUP plc ("the Company") DIRECTORS' SHAREHOLDINGS The Company has been advised by Abacus Corporate Trustee Limited ("Abacus") thatAbacus, as trustee of the Home Retail Group plc Employee Share Trust ("theTrust"), now holds 7,449,855 Ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company.The notification from Abacus was dated 12 March 2007. As announced on 22 February, the holding at that date was 7,451,696 Ordinaryshares. Since then 1,841 Ordinary shares have been released in connection withthe exercise of options granted under GUS plc's former UK share option schemes. Directors of the Company are potential beneficiaries of the Trust andaccordingly any changes in the shareholdings by the Trust are deemed to changetheir interests in the Ordinary share capital of the Company. However, nodirector or person discharging managerial responsibility has exercised anyoptions and no shares were released to them. The balances of shares in respectof their personal interests therefore remain unchanged.
