Home Retail Group Plc09 January 2007 HOME RETAIL GROUP plc ("the Company") DIRECTORS' SHAREHOLDINGS The Company has been advised by Abacus Corporate Trustee Limited ("Abacus") thatAbacus, as trustee of the GUS plc ESOP Trust ("the Trust"), now holds 4,035,268Ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company. The notification from Abacuswas received by the Company on 8 January. As announced on 2 January, the holding at that date was 5,234,149 Ordinaryshares. Since then 1,198,881 Ordinary shares have been released in connectionwith the exercise of options granted under GUS plc's former UK share optionschemes. Directors of the Company are potential beneficiaries of the Trust andaccordingly any changes in the shareholdings by the Trust are deemed to changetheir interests in the Ordinary share capital of the Company.
