British American Tobacco PLC09 August 2005 DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING The independent trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trustnotified the Company on 9 August 2005 that it had on 8 August 2005 released49,009 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") tosatisfy the exercise of options under the Company's share option scheme. Following this transaction, the independent trustee of the British AmericanTobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 23,909,414 Shares.
