Director/PDMR Shareholding in Cable and Wireless plc ("the Company")
The Company was advised on 27 November 2006 that, on 23 November 2006, the Trustees of the Cable and Wireless plc Employee Share Ownership Trust ("the Trust") released Restricted Shares in the Company to the under mentioned PDMRs at a price per Ordinary Share of ‚£1.605, in accordance with the rules of the Company's Restricted Share Plan.
In addition, on the same day the Trust, on behalf of the under mentioned PDMRs, sold Ordinary Shares from the Restricted Shares released at a price per Ordinary Share of ‚£1.598925 to meet UK income tax liabilities: -

In addition, the Company was notified that the Trust made the following disposal of shares, again on 23 November 2006:
* 3,071,973 Ordinary Shares at a price of ‚£1.605 per share; and
* 258,236 Ordinary Shares at a price of ‚£1.598925 per share.
As a consequence of the above awards, 37,750,590 Ordinary Shares are currently held under the Trust. George Battersby, Tony Rice, John Pluthero, and Harris Jones (all being directors of Cable and Wireless plc), in their capacity as members of the class of beneficiaries under the Trust, and Towers Perrin Share Plan Services (GSY) Limited, in their capacity as Trustees of the Trust, are deemed to have a non-beneficial interest in these Ordinary Shares.
No Directors are disposing of any beneficial interests in the Company.
