Director/PDMR Shareholding in Cable and Wireless plc ("the Company")

The Company has been advised that on 10th December 2008 the Trustees of the Cable and Wireless plc Employee Share Ownership Trust ("the Trust") released 4,941 ordinary shares ("shares") in the Company to George Battersby, a Director of the Company, at a price of £1.42 per share.

This release of shares corrects the number of shares which should have been released on the maturity of the Company's 2005 Deferred Short Term Incentive Plan on 30th September 2008.
