British American Tobacco PLC29 December 2005 DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING The independent trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trustnotified the Company on 29 December 2005 that it had between 23 December 2005and 28 December 2005 released: a) 16,590 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the"Shares") to a participant in the British American Tobacco Long Term IncentivePlan; b) 12,961 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the"Shares") to a participant in the British American Tobacco Deferred Share BonusScheme; and c) 21,168 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the"Shares") to satisfy the exercise of options under the Company's share optionscheme. Following these transactions, the independent trustee of the British AmericanTobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 22,764,492 Shares.
