NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS OF DIRECTORS, PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS
Notification made in accordance with Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the Disclosure Rules sourcebook.
The independent Trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trust notified the Company on 20 May 2008 that it had on 19 May 2008 released 355,591 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") to the following Executive Directors and other persons discharging managerial responsibility, being participants (together the "Participants") in the British American Tobacco Long Term Incentive Plan:

The independent Trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trust also notified the Company on 20 May 2008 that it had on 19 May 2008 released 2,667 Shares to Mr J P Daly in respect of an award made to him in 2004 under the British American Tobacco Long Term Incentive Plan. Mr Daly sold these Shares at £19.640000 per Share leaving his total beneficial and family interest as shown in the table above.
