Notification of Directors'/PDMRs' Interests
On 4 July 2008 the Company was notified by the Trustees of the Scottish and Southern Energy Deferred Bonus Plan ("the Plan") of the following changes in directors'/PDMRs' interests in the Company's ordinary shares ("the Shares") arising out of the operation of the Plan.
Awards of Shares under the Plan can be unconditionally released to participants following the third anniversary of grant ("the Maturity Date").
The following directors/PDMRs elected to call for the release of the Shares set out below following the Maturity Date. On 4 July 2008, sufficient Shares were sold at £14.0078 per share in order to discharge income tax and National Insurance contribution liabilities arising on their release from the Deferred Bonus Plan Trust ("the Trust").

The following PDMRs elected to call for the release of the Shares set out below following the Maturity Date. On 4 July 2008, all Shares were sold at £14.0078 per share, sufficient monies were deducted to discharge income tax and National Insurance contribution liabilities arising on their release from the Deferred Bonus Plan Trust ("the Trust")and the residual monies were transferred to the individuals.

Also, on 4 July 2008 the Company was notified that Adrian Pike,PDMR, sold 4,006 Ordinary 50p shares on 4 July 2008 at a price of £13.991 per share.
