Guinness Peat Group plc ("GPG" or "the Company") announces that on 28 October 2010 Sir Ron Brierley transferred 1,000,000 shares to Wellington College in New Zealand for nil consideration.

Sir Ron Brierley now holds a total of 56,458,897 shares in the Company, representing 3.10% of GPG's total shares in issue and consequent voting rights. There are no other changes to Sir Ron Brierley's interests in the shares of GPG or its quoted subsidiaries.
