Close Brothers Group plc appoints new Chief Executive

Close Brothers Group plc ("Close Brothers" or "the Group") is pleased to announce the appointment of Preben Prebensen as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 April 2009. Colin Keogh, Group Chief Executive since November 2002, will then stand down after a long and successful career at Close Brothers.
Preben joins Close Brothers from Catlin Group plc, the international specialty property and casualty insurer and reinsurer, where he is Group Chief Investment Officer and a Member of the Group Executive Committee. He joined Catlin following its acquisition of Wellington Underwriting plc in 2006, where he was Chief Executive. He has significant investment banking experience from over twenty years at JP Morgan which culminated in a number of senior management positions including Co-Head of European Investment Banking and Chairman of the London Management Committee.
Commenting on Preben Prebensen's appointment, Strone Macpherson, Chairman of Close Brothers, said:

Close Brothers will be releasing its interim results for the six months ending 31 January 2009 on 10 March 2009.
