UK Coal PLC05 September 2007 5 September 2007 UK COAL PLC ("UK COAL") Board Change The Board of UK COAL PLC ("UK COAL" or "the Group") today announces the decisionof Chris Mawe, Finance Director, to step down from the Board of UK COAL onSeptember 17 and to leave the Group at the end of this year. The Board alsoannounces the appointment of David Brocksom, formerly Finance Director of PaceMicro Technology plc, as Finance Director of UK COAL as from September 18,2007. David Jones, Chairman, said: "Since he joined in March 2004, Chris has played a central part in thetransformation of UK COAL and the creation of our strong value creation platformin property as well as mining. With the first phases of this evolutionestablished, Chris has now decided to look for new opportunities to further hiscareer. We understand and respect his decision, and we all wish him very wellin his future. "At the same time, the Board is delighted to announce the appointment of DavidBrocksom as our new Finance Director. He has an ideal mix of skills andexperience and we are very confident that he will make a powerful contributionto our team and to the continued delivery of our strategy." David Brocksom FCA (aged 46) qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PriceWaterhouse in 1983, having read Law at Cambridge University. After gainingexperience in the management consultancy division of Price Waterhouse, in bothLondon and Switzerland, he worked in a number of UK listed companies, for over12 years as a Board member. He was Finance Director at Avesco plc from 1998until 2004 and at Pace Micro Technology plc from 2004 until February this year.Since leaving Pace, David has been working with a private equity owned hotelgroup as Interim Commercial Director. He lives in Yorkshire and is married withtwo children. There are no other matters in connection with the appointment of David Brocksomto be disclosed under paragraph LR 9.6.13 R of the Listing Rules of the UKListing Authority.
